How to Promote an Account on Twitter on PC or Mac

This wikiHow teaches you how to promote a Tweet on Twitter on PC or Mac. While you are unable to promote your entire account on Twitter for free, you can pay to promote specific Tweets or run entire campaigns to promote your profile, which will drive traffic to your account.^{[1]

Promoting a Specific Tweet

Go to https://twitter.com/ in a web browser. The Home screen will load, displaying all the Tweets of those you follow.
- Log in if prompted.

Click Tweets. This is on the left side of you screen. There will also be a number there indicating how many Tweets your profile has made. Your profile will load.

Click a Tweet to promote. That Tweet will pop up in a box.

Click the View Tweet Activity icon. This looks like a bar graph along the bottom of the popup box.

Click Get Started.
- You may see Promote this Tweet.

Choose the location and time you’d like to target.

Select the box
. This is next to “I agree to the Twitter Advertising Terms.”

Enter your payment information. This includes a credit card number, the billing address, the CVV, and expiration date.

Select your budget. You will see estimates from Twitter showing the results of your promotion at each budget selection.

Confirm your selection.
- You can see your promoted Tweet and its impact by going to https://ads.twitter.com.

Creating a Twitter Campaign

Go to Twitter for Business in a web browser. You can navigate directly to https://business.twitter.com/en/basics/intro-twitter-for-business.html.

Click the orange Start a Campaign button. This is in the upper right.

Click the blue Go to Twitter Ads button. A new page will load.

Choose the campaign objective. For example, if you want more people to follow your account, you’d choose Followers.

Complete Campaign details. This includes naming your campaign, setting a daily budget, and choosing a start and end date and time for your campaign.
- Click the blue Next button. This is in the upper right.

Complete the Ad Group details. This includes naming your ad group, setting a daily budget, and choosing a start and end date and time for your campaign.

Complete the Target section. This includes what demographics you’re aiming your campaign towards, as well as specific groups of accounts. For example, if you want more people to follow your account, you can choose to add to your targeting followers of specific interests.

Complete the Creatives section. This includes choosing your Tweets to include in the campaign as well as where to display them.

Review your campaign. Make sure everything listed here is correct.
