How to Invite Someone to Dropbox on PC or Mac

This wikiHow teaches you how to invite your contacts to sign up to Dropbox via your personal referral link, using a desktop internet browser.

Steps

Open your internet browser. You can use any browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera.

Go to the Dropbox website. Type www.dropbox.com in your browser's address bar, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.
- If you're not automatically signed in to Dropbox, click the Sign in button in the upper-right corner, and log in with your email and password.

Click your profile picture icon. You will find a thumbnail of your profile picture in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will open a drop-down menu.

Click Settings on the drop-down menu. It will open your personal account settings page.

Click the Plan tab. This button is located below the "Personal account" heading at the top of the page.

Click the Invite a friend button. This button is located below your "Personal Dropbox space" graph in the lower-right corner of the page.

Enter your contact's email address in the email field. Click the email field in the middle of the page, and type or paste the email address of the contact you want to invite.
- You can add multiple contacts to your invite list by separating every email with a comma.
- A list of all matching contacts will appear below the email field as you type. Here you can click and select a contact from the list

Click the blue Send button. This will send an email to your contact with an invitation link. They can sign up via your invite and start using Dropbox immediately.

Click Invite your Gmail contacts. It will open a list of all your Gmail contacts in a new pop-up window, and allow you to select contacts to invite.

Click the Copy link button. This will open a new pop-up window and show your personal referral link. You can copy it to your clipboard, and share it with your contacts.

Click the Share on Facebook button. This button will allow you to share your invitation link on your Facebook wall. Anyone can click it and sign up via your referral link.
