How to Install Brave on a Mobile Device

Brave is a privacy-focused, Chromium-based web browser, automatically blocking online advertisements and website trackers in its default settings. If you have a poor internet connection, Brave can help speed things up. Would you like to use it but don't know how to? Don't worry—in this article, wikiHow covers the specifics of downloading and installing Brave on a mobile device and the process of setting up before you can start using it.

Downlading the App

Open your device’s store. It is the Play Store
on Android, and App Store
on iOS.

Type in Brave Browser on the search bar. It may not always be on top of the search results—scroll to find "Brave Browser", published by Brave Software, Inc.
- Make sure your device is compatible. Brave supports Android version 5 or later and iOS version 13 or later.

Click Install on Android, or
on iOS. This starts downloading and installing the browser. You may need to accept permissions before you can install it.
- Although this depends on your internet speed and some other factors, downloading and installing shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Setting Up the App

Open Brave. You might be able to open it directly from your store, or you might want to open it from your home screen.

Click Continue. After you open Brave, you’ll likely reach the “Welcome to Brave Browser” page. Read what the page says and decide whether or not to select the “Help improve Brave by sending completely anonymized private product analytics” option. Then click Continue to proceed.

Choose if you want to set Brave as your default browser. You may choose to set Brave as default or not. Click Set Brave as default to set it, or Not now to proceed.

Take the welcome tour. You’ll likely be taken to a page where it takes you through a small tour about some of Brave’s features. Read what it says and click Next to proceed.
- You’ll probably have to acknowledge the “Privacy Protection” note first. Tap Turn on privacy reports to acknowledge it and move on.

Close the Privacy report. The Privacy report opens up after the welcome tour. But because you’ve just installed Brave, you won’t have anything to do with it just yet, and would want to close it.

Start using Brave to browse the internet. Once you've installed Brave, and set up things, you can start using Brave to search the internet. Just type something on the search bar and press Go.
