Since macOS Mojave, Safari extensions are treated more like apps, which means that you have to disable the app before you can delete it. This wikiHow will teach you how to disable Safari extensions on a Mac.

Steps

  1. 1
Click the Safari tab. You'll see this in the menu bar at the top of your screen next to the Apple logo.
  2. 2
Click Preferences. It's usually the first option in the second grouping of menu items.
  3. 3
Click the Extensions tab. It's the puzzle piece icon and will display all of your Safari extensions in a panel on the left side of the window.
  4. 4
Click the checkmark next to each extension . If the extension has multiple entries, you'll have to disable them all.[1]
    • Click Uninstall in the panel on the right to completely uninstall the extension, then click Show in Finder so you can delete the app. Right-click the file and select Move to Bin, then enter your Mac username and password to delete it. If you encounter a warning that says the app couldn't be deleted because it's in use, you'll need to disable it in Safari again as well as all similar extensions.[2]
