This wikiHow teaches you how to change the default language used in the Google Chrome web browser. Keep in mind that webpages will still display in the languages in which they were written, though Google Chrome will offer to translate them into your default language. You cannot change the default language in the iPhone or Android Chrome app since it uses your phone's language settings.

    Set the language as default. Click to the right of the language dialect, then click Display Google Chrome in this language in the pop-up menu.
    • Some languages, such as "English", cannot be set as the default language; instead, you'll have to select the "English (United States)" dialect (or another dialect).[1]

    Click Relaunch. It's to the right of the language that you just set as the Chrome default. Doing so will close and re-open Google Chrome; once Chrome re-opens, your selected language will be used for things like Chrome's Settings menu and other built-in menu options.
    • Google Chrome may take 30 seconds or so to re-open.
