Klefki is a Steel and Fairy-Type Pokémon that was first introduced in Pokémon X and Y. [1] Catching it can be a bit difficult, due to its slightly lower-than-average catch rate, and that there aren't a lot of places where Klefki can be found. Fortunately, this wikiHow will help you catch Klefki in Pokémon X and Y.

Steps

  1. 1
Be sure that you have enough Pokéballs with you. As mentioned in the introduction, Klefki's catch rate is slightly below average[2] , so it's a good idea to have Great and/or Ultra Pokéballs with you (make sure, however, that you have multiple Pokéballs with you in case your first attempt at catching Klefki is not successful).
    • If you'd like, you can also bring a few Quick Pokéballs with you to try and catch Klefki right away when the encounter first begins.
  2. 2
Have Ground and/or Fire-Type Pokémon on your team. Because Klefki is a Steel and Fairy-Type Pokémon, it is weak to those types of moves. [3]
    • Unless Klefki has a Ring Target, it is immune to Poison and Dragon-Type moves, so be sure to keep that in mind (if Klefki is holding a Ring Target, Poison-Type moves will be super effective, and Dragon-Type moves will have a low level of effectiveness).[4]
  3. 3
Know where you can find Klefki. In Pokémon X and Y, Klefki can be found on Routes 15 (Brun Way) and 16 (Mélancolie Path), as well as in the Lost Hotel and on the Steel-Type Friendship Safari. [5]
    • Klefki has the highest encounter rates in the Lost Hotel and on the Steel-Type Friendship Safari. [6] [7]
  4. 4
Walk around in the area you chose. Whichever area you're decided to visit, walk around a bit in that area. It may take a few minutes (and you'll likely encounter other Pokémon first), but eventually you should encounter a Klefki.
    • Take note that you do not walk through grass in the Lost Hotel. Instead, you will simply encounter Pokémon as you're walking around.
  5. 5
Lower Klefki's health to about half or less. Once you've found a Klefki, lower its health to about half or less to make catching it a little easier.
    • Be aware if you're using moves intended to poison or burn that if successful, these will cause the Pokémon the move is used on to lose health quickly. Therefore, if you choose to use these types of moves, be prepared to act quickly and catch Klefki before its health reaches 0.
    • Moves like False Swipe can be helpful, since it's guaranteed to leave the Pokémon the move is used on with at least 1 HP.
  6. 6
Throw a Pokéball. Once Klefki's health is at about half or less, throw a Pokéball. Although it may take a few tries, you should eventually catch Klefki.
  7. 7
    Enjoy using Klefki in battle!
