This wikiHow teaches you use Calm on your Android to help you relax, meditate, and get better rest. Though most of Calm’s features require a paid membership, you can test all of app's features at no cost for 7 consecutive days.

Part 1 of 6:Setting Up Calm

2Open Calm. It’s the blue icon that says ″calm″ in white letters. You’ll usually find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.

3Select some goals and tap Continue.

4Sign up for Calm. Choose from the following options:
- Sign up with Email: Enter your name and email address, then create a password you’ll use to sign into the app. Tap Sign up to continue.
- Continue with Facebook: Follow the on-screen instructions to access your Facebook account and connect it to Calm.

5Tap the X on the subscription ad. This is optional.

6Follow the on-screen instructions to turn on notifications (optional). If you’d like Calm to send you meditation reminders, you’ll need to enable this feature.

Part 2 of 6:Signing Up for a Free Trial

1Open Calm. It’s the blue icon that says ″calm″ in white letters. You’ll usually find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.
- You can try Calm at no cost for 7 consecutive days. You must cancel the trial before the end of the 7th day to avoid being charged for a 1-year subscription.[1]
- If you don’t want a free trial or subscription, you can still use some of Calm’s relaxation techniques, one sleep story, and a beginners mindfulness lesson.

2Tap the profile icon. It’s near the top-left corner of the screen.

3Scroll down and tap Unlock Calm Premium. It’s near the bottom of the screen.

4Tap Try 7 Days for Free. This opens the Play Store.

5Follow the on-screen instructions to activate your free trial. Once your trial is active, a confirmation message will appear.

Part 3 of 6:Using Meditations

1Open Calm. It’s the blue icon that says ″calm″ in white letters. You’ll usually find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.

2Tap Meditate. It’s at the bottom of the screen.

3Browse for a meditation that interests you. If you’re subscribed or using the trial, swipe left on the category menu at the top of the screen to see available topics, then tap a topic to browse its meditations.
- If you don’t have a paid membership or trial subscription, you can only access 7 Days of Calm.
- If you’re new to meditating in general (and have a subscription or trial membership), try the Beginners category.

4Tap a meditation. A description of the meditation and its benefits will appear.

5Get comfortable and tap Start Session. The meditation’s audio will begin to play.
- If the background sounds are distracting, tap the first icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen to open the volume slider, then drag the slider to the left until the sounds are quiet.
- To pause for a break, tap the two vertical lines at the bottom of the screen.

6Follow along with the meditation. Once the recording ends, you’ll see a message that tells you you’ve completed the session.

7Save a meditation to your favorites. If you decide you like a certain meditation and want to add it to your favorites, tap the heart icon at the bottom of the screen while it’s playing.
- Your favorite meditations are added to the ″My (heart)″ tab at the top top of the ″Meditate″ screen.

Part 4 of 6:Using Sleep Stories

1Open Calm. It’s the blue icon that says ″calm″ in white letters. You’ll usually find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.[2]
- Sleep stories are recordings designed to help you achieve restful sleep.
- Most sleep stories require a paid or trial membership. If you aren’t subscribed, you can still access the stories called The Waterfall and The Secret Lagoon (for children).

2Tap Sleep. It’s the second option at the bottom of the screen.

3Browse for a story. Swipe left on the category menu at the top of the screen to check out the topics, then tap a topic that interests you. A list of stories will appear.

4Tap a sleep story. If it’s your first time using sleep stories, you may have to tap OK to continue.

5Get comfortable. Once the sleep story begins, all you’ll need to do is lay down and listen.

Part 5 of 6:Using Daily Calm

1Open Calm. It’s the blue icon that says ″calm″ in white letters. You’ll usually find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.
- Daily Calm is a set of 3 10-minute mindfulness lessons designed to help you build a regular meditation practice.
- This feature is only available to paid members and trial users.

2Tap Daily Calm. It’s at the top of the screen. The first meditation will begin.
- If the background sounds are distracting, tap the first icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen to open the volume slider, then drag the slider to the left until the sounds are quiet.
- To pause for a break, tap the two vertical lines at the bottom of the screen.

3Follow along with the meditation. Once the recording is complete, you’ll see a confirmation message that says you’ve finished the first session.

4Tap X to close the window. It’s at the top of the screen. This brings you to your profile, where you’ll see your meditation statistics.

5Tap X. This returns you to the main Calm screen.

6Tap Daily Calm when you’re ready for the next session. The next 10-minute session will begin.
- When the session ends, you’ll return to the statistics screen once again.
- If you’d like to do your third Daily Calm immediately, tap Daily Calm again when you return to the main Calm screen.
