It can be pretty uncomfortable to carry a ruler around everywhere with you in your pocket. Downloading an Android ruler app is a good alternative for when you need to measure something in a pinch.

Steps

Search for "smart ruler" in your phone's Play Store app.

Use the "install" button to install Smart Ruler, and the "Open" button to get it started.

Hit the menu button in the app and select "input width." Enter the exact width of your phone's screen, and then click "OK."

Touch the screen and slide over to the exact length of what you're measuring. When the red line matches up with the object you want, you'll be able to read its exact length.
