Tagging, while tedious, can make your photo collection much more manageable. digiKam allows you to do it fairly easily.
Steps
-
1Open digiKam into any view that will allow you to see your images.
-
2Click on Tag >> New... This will bring you to a screen where you can create your tags.Advertisement
-
3Create a hierarchy by using the forward slash (usually at the bottom left of your keyboard). So to create a category, you might do the following:
- Arizona/Skyline
-
4Use the comma to separate multiple tag hierarchies. That way, you can accomplish more, more quickly. For example:
- Arizona/Skyline, Arizona/Flora, wikiHow/RCC/2009

-
1Select the images that you are going to tag. If contiguous, you can use your SHIFT key to select all of them or the CTRL key to pick and choose. Much the same as a lot of Windows software.
-
2Right click on one of the images you just selected. If you don't do it on one of those images, you will deselect everything.
-
3Select the appropriate tag.
-
4If the tag you need isn't there, select "Add New Tag...". This will take you to the same dialog screen as before.Advertisement
