How to Start a Telegram Group on Android

This wikiHow teaches you how to create a new group chat conversation with your contacts on Telegram, using Android.

Steps

Open the Telegram app on your Android. The Telegram icon looks like a white paper plane in a blue circle on your Apps menu. Telegram will open up to a list of all your personal and group chats.

Tap the three horizontal lines icon. This button is in the upper-left corner of your screen. It will open your menu panel on the left-hand side.
- If Telegram opens up to a chat conversation, tap the back button to go back to your chats list and reveal the menu icon.

Tap New Group on the menu. This option is listed next to two figureheads at the top of the menu panel. It will open a list of all your contacts.

Select all the contacts you want to add to your group. Tap a name on the list to select a contact. A green checkmark will appear next to each selected contact.
- You can use the Add people field at the top of your contacts list to quickly search and find a contact.
- You can select as many contacts as you want.

Tap the white checkmark icon. This button is in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will confirm your selection of contacts.

Enter a name for your group. In the Enter group name field, enter a title you think will suit your new group chat.

Tap the white checkmark icon. It's in the upper-right corner of your screen. This button will confirm your group name, and create your new group chat.
