How to Quote on Facebook on an iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to share quotes from websites, ebooks, and other sources on Facebook using an iPhone or iPad.

Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad. It’s the compass icon that’s usually at the bottom of the home screen.

Navigate to the website you want to quote. You’ll be able to quote text from nearly any website.

Tap and hold the first word in the quote. The selected word now has two “handles” (blue lines with dots at their bottoms) on either end.

Drag the handles to highlight the entire quote. Drag the first handle upward or to the left, and the bottom downward or toward the right.

Tap Copy. It’s in the black pop-up menu that appeared.

. It’s at the bottom of the screen.

Tap Facebook. This brings you to a screen that allows you to create a new Facebook post.

Type a " (quotation mark) into the new post.

Tap and hold the space after the ". A list of options will appear.

Tap Paste. The copied quote now appears in the post.

Type another " (quotation mark). This ensures that the quote is in proper quotation format.

Tap Post. It’s at the top-right corner of the screen. This posts your quote along with a link to the original source.

Open your ebook reader. You can quote text from most readers, including Amazon’s Kindle app (referenced in this method). The steps should be similar in other readers.

Open the book with the text you want to quote.
