How to Not Get Tagged on Facebook on an iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to disable the Facebook feature that prompts users to tag you in photos, as well as how to prevent posts you're tagged in from appearing in your timeline.

Steps

Open Facebook on your iPhone or iPad. It's the blue icon with a white “f” inside. You'll usually find it on the home screen.

Tap ≡. It's at the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Scroll down and tap Settings. It's at the bottom of the menu.

Tap Account Settings.

Tap Timeline and Tagging. It's near the top of the second section.

Scroll down and tap “Who can see posts you're tagged in on your timeline?”. It's the first option under the “TAGGING” header.

Select Only Me and then tap the back button. Now when someone tags you, the post will no longer appear in your timeline.

Tap “When you're tagged in a post, who do you want to add to the audience of the post if they can't already see it?”. It's also under the “TAGGING” header.

Select Only Me and then tap the back button.

Tap “Who sees tag suggestions when photos that look like you are uploaded?”. It's also under the “TAGGING” header.

Select No one and tap the back button. Now nobody will be prompted to tag you in photos by Facebook's facial recognition feature.

Scroll down and tap “Review posts you're tagged in before the post appears on your timeline?”. It's under the “REVIEW” header.

Slide the switch to the
position. This ensures that if someone does tag you in something, you'll be asked for approval before the tag appears.
