For a refreshing summertime cocktail with a kick, follow the instructions below. You won't be sorry... or sober! Recipe makes two delightful drinks.

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces (150 mL) vodka
  • 3 teaspoons (12.5 grams) sugar or Splenda
  • 1 cup (245 grams) of strawberries
  • Crushed ice

Steps

  1. 1
Chill the martini glasses in the freezer.
  2. 2
Crush the strawberries, washed with stem and leaves removed, in a bowl and drain juice into a shaker (a mortar and pestle is handy for this step), leaving two strawberries for garnish.
  3. 3
    Add crushed ice to shaker.
  4. 4
Pour the vodka into shaker (vanilla vodka can be used for a sweeter flavor).
  5. 5
    Add the sugar or Splenda.
  6. 6
    Shake vigorously.
  7. 7
Pour enough sugar onto a small plate to cover the surface.
  8. 8
Remove the martini glasses from freezer.
  9. 9
Slice ends of the two remaining strawberries vertically so that there is a slit in the lower half of each.
  10. 10
Place the berries on rim of glass and slide completely around rim so that surface is moistened with juice.
  11. 11
Remove the strawberries and place glass, rim down, on plate with sugar so that each glass has a sugar rim.
  12. 12
Pour the contents of shaker evenly between two sugared glasses and then garnish with strawberry on rim.
  13. 13
    Drink, enjoy, repeat.
  14. 14
    Finished.
