For a refreshing summertime cocktail with a kick, follow the instructions below. You won't be sorry... or sober! Recipe makes two delightful drinks.
Ingredients
- 5 ounces (150 mL) vodka
- 3 teaspoons (12.5 grams) sugar or Splenda
- 1 cup (245 grams) of strawberries
- Crushed ice
Steps
-
1Chill the martini glasses in the freezer.
-
2Crush the strawberries, washed with stem and leaves removed, in a bowl and drain juice into a shaker (a mortar and pestle is handy for this step), leaving two strawberries for garnish.
-
3Add crushed ice to shaker.
-
4Pour the vodka into shaker (vanilla vodka can be used for a sweeter flavor).
-
5Add the sugar or Splenda.
-
6Shake vigorously.
-
7Pour enough sugar onto a small plate to cover the surface.
-
8Remove the martini glasses from freezer.
-
9Slice ends of the two remaining strawberries vertically so that there is a slit in the lower half of each.
-
10Place the berries on rim of glass and slide completely around rim so that surface is moistened with juice.
-
11Remove the strawberries and place glass, rim down, on plate with sugar so that each glass has a sugar rim.
-
12Pour the contents of shaker evenly between two sugared glasses and then garnish with strawberry on rim.
-
13Drink, enjoy, repeat.
-
14Finished.
