1Buy butternut from a local grocery store.

2Boil or steam the butternut.

3Allow the butternut to cool.

4Remove the skin of the butternut with a sharp knife.

5Remove the pips from the butternut.

6Blend the butternut squash in a food processor. You can complete this step manually using a potato masher or fork if you do not own a blender or food processor.

7Add half a teaspoon of Vegemite to the pureed butternut squash.

8Boil glass baby food bottles and lids to sterilize them.

9Remove bottles with a pair of tongs from boiling water.

10Place butternut into jars and seal.

11Allow jars to cool.

12Place bottled butternut squash into the freezer. Remove and thaw as needed.

13For younger babies, freeze smaller portions of butternut squash puree in ice trays.
