How to Install Scribus

With free and open source software abounding, there is no reason to pay all the money for the expensive programs unless you need all the bells and whistles (and most times you don't). Scribus is a Desktop Publishing software (DTP) that can help you with producing magazines, newsletters and a sundry other things.

Steps

Go to the download page on Scribus.Net.
- Scribus has a version for several 'flavors' of Linux, Windows, MacOSX, and OS/2.

Click on your particular version. The Windows version is an EXE (executable file) and does not need an unzip program.

Double click the file. Once the file is downloaded, double click on the file and run it. It will provide you with a default location, but if you want it in a different one, you will need to change it.
- This just tells you that you won't be able to use these fonts.

Once installed, choose a document type to create.
- Your layout will differ depending on the type that you chose. This one was a one page document.

Try filler text. It might be easier to design your document if you can concentrate on the design and then the words. is a good place to generate some.
