Part 2
Part 2 of 3:
Obtaining The Metal Cap

  1. 1
  2. 2
Go down the long staircase. You should see a door with a lock in the middle. Since you've already beaten Bowser 1, it should be unlocked, so enter.
  3. 3
Move into the hallway and open the next wood door.
  4. 4
If you go to the right and then go straight, you'll see a painting of a fireball with a face. Ignore it and go to the right.
  5. 5
Enter the star door with no letter on it. You'll see a pool of metal. Don't worry, it's not molten, so dive in.
  6. 6
    Select a random star.
  7. 7
Now that you're in Hazy Maze Cave, go to the left and long jump over the pit, then go through the door.
  8. 8
Go to the place where you probably got the Watch For Rolling Rocks star, and go down the elevator. Remember to heal up first!
  9. 9
  10. 10
Jump off of Dorrie and go through the metal double door. You'll see another metal pool. Again, dive in.
  11. 11
Go through the obstacle course and press the green switch. All green Item Blocks will become solid and you will be able to become Metal Mario.

  4. 4
Go through the metal door and look for a hole. After you do find one, jump in it.

Warnings

  • Do not fall into the water in the Metal Cap course without the Metal Cap; you'll be washed away and end up back in the castle courtyard.
  • Don't go left or right in the Wing Cap course; it'll make it harder to land on the center platform.
  • This guide is for the Nintendo 64 version of Super Mario 64, though photos were shot on an emulator. How is this even a warning?
