Super Mario 64 has 3 caps in it; the Wing Cap, Metal Cap, and Vanish Cap. This guide will detail how to obtain each cap in the game.

2Go down the long staircase. You should see a door with a lock in the middle. Since you've already beaten Bowser 1, it should be unlocked, so enter.

3Move into the hallway and open the next wood door.

4If you go to the right and then go straight, you'll see a painting of a fireball with a face. Ignore it and go to the right.

5Enter the star door with no letter on it. You'll see a pool of metal. Don't worry, it's not molten, so dive in.

6Select a random star.

7Now that you're in Hazy Maze Cave, go to the left and long jump over the pit, then go through the door.

8Go to the place where you probably got the Watch For Rolling Rocks star, and go down the elevator. Remember to heal up first!

10Jump off of Dorrie and go through the metal double door. You'll see another metal pool. Again, dive in.

11Go through the obstacle course and press the green switch. All green Item Blocks will become solid and you will be able to become Metal Mario.Advertisement

Part 3 of 3:Obtaining The Vanish Cap

1Go to the star door where you got the Metal Cap, and go right. Enter the next wooden door that you see.

2Swim through the tunnel.

3Ground-pound both pillars. The water level should deplete.

4Go through the metal door and look for a hole. After you do find one, jump in it.

5Slide down, then complete the obstacle course and press the blue switch. All blue Item Boxes will become solid and you will be able to become Vanish Mario.Advertisement
Warnings
- Do not fall into the water in the Metal Cap course without the Metal Cap; you'll be washed away and end up back in the castle courtyard.Thanks!
- Don't go left or right in the Wing Cap course; it'll make it harder to land on the center platform.Thanks!
