In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Grubbin is an insectoid Bug-type Pokémon that evolves into the Bug/Electric-type Charjabug, which evolves into the Bug/Electric-type Vikavolt. This article will explain how to evolve Grubbin through all its forms.
Steps

1Get a Grubbin. You have a 10% chance of finding Grubbin on Route 1, Route 4, Route 5, and Route 6, so finding one may take a while. You'll find one at anywhere from level 3 to level 17, depending on the route in which you are searching.[1]
- Net Balls are a good ball to catch Grubbin with since they work best on Bug and Water-type Pokémon. If you're at the beginning of the game, all Poké Balls have a 100% catch rate on Route 1 (note that this won't be the case later on in the game).

2Level up your Grubbin to level 20. Since Grubbin is a Bug-type Pokémon, it is super effective against Grass, Dark, and Psychic-type Pokémon.

3Go to Vast Poni Canyon on Poni Island. This is the last island you'll encounter in the game. You'll need to be inside the canyon to evolve your Charjabug.[4]

4Level up your Charjabug inside Vast Poni Canyon to evolve into Vikavolt. This works at any level except for level 100, so you can have a Vikavolt as low as level 21.
- You'll find Fighting-type Pokémon like Machoke, Dark/Flying-type Pokémon like Murkrow, Steel/Flying-type Pokémon like Skarmory, Rock-type Pokémon like Boldore and Lycanroc, Rock/Fairy-type Pokémon like Carbink, and Dragon-type Pokémon like Jangmo-o in the canyon. Battle these to gain experience and level.
- You can also give your Charjabug a Rare Candy to gain a level.[5]
