Method 1
Method 1 of 2:
Using Emoji

  1. 1
Open Slack on your iPhone or iPad. It’s the multicolored pattern icon with a black “S” inside. You’ll usually find it on the home screen.
  2. 2
Tap the Slack icon. It’s the hashtag at the top-left corner of the screen.

  3. 3
Select the channel in which you want to create a poll. If you’d prefer, you can create a new channel just for the poll.
  4. 4
Type the poll question into the message box. It’s at the bottom of the channel. Don’t send the message just yet!
    • For example, if you want to know what your team wants for lunch, you may type “What do you want to order for lunch?”
  5. 5
Press the Return key. It’s at the bottom-right corner of the keyboard. This brings you to a new line, where you can enter the first possible emoji reaction.
  6. 6
Type an emoji and its associated answer. Users will vote on the poll by typing the emoji that corresponds with an answer. You’ll decide the emoji and what answers they represent.
    • For example, in our lunch poll, you may use the pizza emoji and type “Pizza” to make pizza an option.
  7. 7
Press Return. Now you can add another possible answer.
  8. 8
Type another emoji and its associated answer. Again, use an emoji that represents an answer, then type what it represents so there’s no confusion.
    • Keep adding emoji options until you’re finished. Hit the Return key after each option for a more organized poll.
  9. 9
Tap Send. The poll will now appear in the channel.
  10. 10
Vote on the poll. To cast your vote, type the emoji that represents your vote, then tap Send. Make sure the other members of your channel do the same so you can get an accurate count. The emoji that appears the most times in the channel wins the poll.

    • You can add more options if you wish--just remember to put them in quotes.
