This wikiHow teaches you how to add a friend to your WeChat contacts, using an iPhone or iPad.

Inviting Friends

Open WeChat on your iPhone or iPad. The WeChat icon looks like two white speech bubbles in a green square.

Tap the Chats tab. This button looks like a speech bubble icon in the lower-left corner of your screen. It will open a list of all your recent chat conversations.

Tap Invite friends to WeChat at the bottom. This button is located at the bottom of your Chats list.
- Alternatively, you can tap the "+" icon on the top-right, select Add Contacts, and find the same option here.

Select an invitation method. You can invite friends via Email, Message, WhatsApp, or Facebook.
- When you select a method, you will be switched to the selected app.

Select a friend to invite. Depending on which method you choose, you may have to enter your friend's email address, phone number, or username in a different app.

Send your invitation. When your friend accepts your invitation, you will receive a notification on WeChat.

Using Friend Radar

Tap the Contacts tab. This button looks like a figurehead icon next to Chats in the lower-left corner of your screen. It will open your Contacts list.

Tap the figurehead icon on the top-right. Find the white figurehead and "+" sign in the upper-right corner of your Contacts list, and tap it. This will bring a list of methods for adding a new contact.

Tap Friend Radar. This option will allow you to find and add friends in your vicinity.
- If you're prompted to allow WeChat access to your location, tap OK.

Tap on your friend's picture on the radar screen. This will add them to your contacts with just one tap.

Scanning QR Codes

Tap Scan QR Code. This option will allow you to scan your friend's QR code with your camera, and add them to your contacts.
- If you're prompted to allow WeChat access to your camera, tap OK.

Position your friend's QR code inside the square frame. This will automatically scan the code, and add your friend to your contacts.
- You can double-tap on your screen and zoom in.
