How to Use Threads on Slack on Android

This wikiHow teaches you how to start a reply thread below any chat message in a Slack workspace, and post your questions, comments or concerns, using Android.

Steps

    Open the Slack app on your Android. The Slack app looks like a dark "S" in a colored circle icon on your Apps menu.
    • If you're not automatically signed in, tap the blue SIGN IN button and log in to any of your active workspaces.

    Tap the workspace icon on the top-left. This button looks like your workspace's name initials in a square icon. It will open your menu panel on the left-hand side.

    Tap a channel or direct message. Find the chat you want to message on the menu, and open it.

    Tap any message in the chat conversation. This will open the selected message on a new page.

    Tap Start a thread below the message. This option will allow you to start a reply thread below the selected message, and add your own message.
    • If another user has already started a reply thread below this message, you can tap Add a reply at the bottom of the page, and enter your message.

    Enter your reply message in the message field. You can use this field to outline all your comments, questions, and concerns about the original message.
    • If you check the Also send to #channel option below the message field, your message will also be posted at the bottom of the channel chat.
