How to Use Skype for Video Games on iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to use Skype for video games on iPhone and iPad. Skype allows you to create groups and offers free voice conference calls. This makes Skype a good platform to communicate with your teammates privately during online multiplayer games. While some games have in-game communication tools, they're not always private, or easy to use.

Create a Gaming Group

Open Skype. It's the light-blue icon with a white "S" inside.
- Sign in to Skype with your phone number, email, or username and password if you have not already done so.

Tap ＋. It's in the top-left corner of the screen.

Tap New Group.
- Skype for iPad does not currently allow you to create groups. However, you can create a new chat. It works similarly but you will not be able to name it.

Enter a name for your group. For example: "Gaming Buddies", or "Battlefield Squad".

Tap [[Image:|techicon|x30px]]. It's the arrow icon on the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Select the people you want to add. Tap the contacts you want to add and a checkmark will appear next to their name.
- If you accidentally added the wrong person, you can remove them by tapping the ⓧ in the corner of their profile image at the top of the screen.

Tap Done. It's on the top-right of the screen. This creates your new group and adds the people you selected.
- If you're team members don't have Skype, you can invite them:
  - Tap Contacts to view all your contacts.
  - Tap Invite next to the person.

Use Gaming Group for Gaming

Open Skype. It's the light-blue icon with a white "S" inside.
- Sign in to Skype with your phone number, email, or username and password if you have not already done so.

Tap the Chats tab. On iPhone, it's the tab in the middle at the very top of the screen.
- On iPad, tap Recent at the bottom of the screen instead.

Tap your gaming group. This opens the group chat. Here you can send messages back and forth to organize before you start a game. When you are ready to start a game, you can start a voice call.

Tap the phone icon. This is the phone icon in the top-right corner of the screen. This initiates a group call to everyone in the group. It will give you and your gaming friends a secure and private line to your teammates that other players in the game cannot overhear.
