How to Use Plex on Android

This wikiHow teaches you how to browse your saved music, videos, photos, and news streams in the Plex mobile app, using Android.

Steps

    Open the Plex app on your Android. The Plex icon looks like an orange

    icon in a black square. You can find it on your Apps menu.

    Sign into your account. Tap the sign-in option you want to use, and verify your account information to open your profile.
    • You can tap Continue with Google or Continue with Facebook if you want to sign in with a social media account.
    • If you want to enter your email address and password to sign in, tap the yellow Continue with Plex Account button at the bottom.

    Tap an album on your Home page. Your Home page lists all the songs and audio files you've recently added to your library under the "Recently Added Music" heading. You can tap a song, podcast, or album here to open its details.
    • If you've recently added other media to Plex, such as photos or videos, you can also find them on your Home page here.

    Tap the Play button. This button looks like a white

    icon on a yellow button. You can find it in the upper-right corner of the album details page. It will start playing the selected album.
    • Alternatively, you can scroll down and tap a song to play it.

    Tap the Download icon below the album title. This button looks like a downward arrow icon in a white circle. You can find it on a toolbar below the album's title.
    • When you download an album, you can listen to all the songs in it without an internet connection.
    • You can also use the other icons here to add the album to a playlist, or shuffle the playing order.

    Tap the ⋮ button below the album title. This will show your album options on a pop-up menu.

    Tap Delete on the pop-up menu. This will delete the selected album and all the songs in it from your Plex account.
    • When you're prompted to confirm your action, tap YES in the confirmation pop-up.

    icon on the top-left.     This will quit the album, and go back to your Home page.

    Tap the Shows tab at the bottom. This button looks like a TV icon on a navigation bar at the bottom of your screen. It will open a list of all your uploaded TV shows.
    • You can tap any TV show here to view its details and watch it on your Android.

    Tap the Movies tab at the bottom. This button looks like a film roll icon on your bottom navigation bar. If you have any movies saved to your account, you'll see them here.
    • Tap any movie here to watch it on your phone or tablet.

    Tap the Music tab at the bottom. This button looks like a musical note icon on your bottom navigation bar. It will open your audio and music library.
    • Besides music, you can find all the other types of audio files saved to your account here. If you're looking for a podcast, audio recording or lecture, you'll likely find it on your Music page.

    Tap the More tab at the bottom. This button looks like a "⋮" icon in the lower-right corner of your screen. It will open a list of all the other media types you can browse.

    Tap Photos to view your image library. You can find all your saved photos and image files on the Photos page.
    • Just tap a photo here to view it in full-screen.

    Tap News on the More menu. This will open a list of all the recent and popular news videos you can watch.

    Tap a news video to watch it. You'll see a list of news videos under the "My Newscast" heading on the News page. Scroll down and tap on the video you want to watch here.
    • Alternatively, you can tap Categories & Channels above the video list to filter the news by category or channel.
