This wikiHow teaches you how to activate your iPhone's one-handed keyboard. When you use the one-handed keyboard, the keyboard realigns to the left or right side of the screen, making it easier to type with one hand, no matter which hand you favor!
Steps
-
1Open the keyboard. You'll want to change your keyboard settings while the keyboard is active. To open the keyboard, open any app that allows you to type, such as the Notes app, and then tap the typing area as though you are about to start typing.
- You can use the left or right one-handed keyboard on any iPhone model except for the original iPhone SE.[1]
-
2Tap and hold the emoji or globe key. Depending on your settings, you'll see either a smiley face or globe key in the bottom row of the keyboard toward the left edge. When you tap and hold it, a menu will expand.
-
3Tap the keyboard direction you'd like to use. The keyboard's orientation will move left or right, depending on the direction you choose.
- To use the left-handed keyboard, tap the keyboard icon on the left (the one with an arrow pointing leftward).
- To use the right-handed keyboard, tap the keyboard icon on the right.
- To return to the standard keyboard layout, tap and hold the emoji or globe key, and then tap the keyboard icon at the center.
