How to Use AirPods on Android

Although created by Apple, you can use AirPods with Android just like any other wireless Bluetooth headphones. This wikiHow will teach you how to connect AirPods on Android.

Steps

Open the AirPods case. You can't pair your Android to your AirPods if the case is closed and charging.

Open your Android's Bluetooth settings. The location of these settings varies by manufacturer, but you'll always find them somewhere in the Settings app, which is the gear-shaped icon in the app drawer.
- If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, you'll usually find Bluetooth settings in Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
- If you're using a Google Pixel or another stock Android phone or tablet, swipe down from the top of your screen to pull down the notification panel, then tap and hold the Bluetooth icon. Tap Pair new device to start pairing.

Hold the pairing button on the AirPods case. You'll find this small button on the back of the case for your AirPods. The LED light will pulse white once it's ready.

Tap the AirPods in the list on your phone. Once you have the AirPods in pairing mode, they should show up as discoverable devices on your phone.
- You'll lose many features available to AirPods users who have an iPhone, such as the ability to say "Hey, Siri" and automatic ear detection. Some apps, like Ear Detection for Spotify, can help you get around these compatibility issues.
