This wikiHow teaches you how to switch the Telegram app to the Dark theme, displaying white text on black for a comfortable viewing experience at night, using Android.
Steps
-
1Open Telegram on your Android. The Telegram app looks like a white paper plane in a blue circle icon on your Apps menu.
-
2Tap the three horizontal lines icon. This button is located in the upper-left corner of your chats list. It will open your navigation menu on the left-hand side of your screen.
- If Telegram opens up to a chat conversation, tap the back button and go back to your chats list.
-
3Tap Settings on the left panel. Find Settings next to a gray gear icon at the bottom of your navigation menu, and tap it. This will open your app settings and preferences on a new page.
-
4Scroll down and tap Theme. This option is listed under the Settings heading on your settings and preferences menu. It will open a list of your available themes.
-
5Select Dark on the Theme menu. This will switch you to the Dark theme, and go back to the previous page. Telegram will now display white text on black in all of your chats, groups, and menus.
Warnings
- Dark theme reverses your background and foreground colors in the app interface, displaying white text on black. This will help you reduce eye strain from white light in the dark, but it won't lower your brightness or blue light on your screen. Thanks!
