Method 2
Method 2 of 2:
Using a Charger Cord

  1. 1
Unplug your charger from its socket. In order to wake up your phone without using the Lock button, you'll need to connect your charger to your phone, then plug your charger (and connected phone) into a power source.
    • If your charger isn't plugged in, skip this step.
  2. 2
Make sure your charger cord is connected properly. The USB cable's large end needs to plug into the rectangular port on the charger cube.
    • If the USB cable doesn't fit into the rectangular port, rotate the cable 180 degrees on its long axis.
  3. 3
Plug the skinny end of your USB charger into your iPhone. The charging port is on the bottom of your phone.
  4. 4
Plug the charger's other end into an electrical outlet.
  5. 5
Wait for the screen to light up. If your phone's battery was dead prior to plugging the phone in, you'll see an empty battery silhouette with a sliver of red light in it.
    • If your phone wasn't dead, you'll see the Apple logo appear here.
  6. 6
Wait for your phone to restart. If your battery was dead, this can take up to an hour. Otherwise, your phone should restart within a minute.[1]

It is likely that the screen or charge port is damaged. You will have to take your iPhone to the Apple Store for repair.

Plug it in, let it charge, and wait. If it still won't turn on, press and hold the Power and Home buttons to perform a hard reset. If you get an error screen with a USB cable and an iTunes logo, connect the iPhone to iTunes, and restore its operating system.
  • Question
My phone turned on after getting wet, but then it turned itself back off. What does this mean?

You can try resetting the phone, but most likely this means the water damage was more extensive than you may have thought initially and could require professional repair.
