This wikiHow teaches you how to view a foreign-language web page in your own default language in Google Chrome, using iPhone or iPad. Chrome uses Google Translate to make translations, and you can even set it to automatic.

Steps

  1. 1
Open Google Chrome on your iPhone or iPad. The Chrome app looks like a colored ball with a blue dot at the center. You can find it on your home screen or in an app folder.
    • If you don't have Google Chrome on your iPhone or iPad, you can download and install it from the App Store.
  2. 2
Tap the address bar at the top. The address bar allows you to enter a link and open a web page in your browser. Your keyboard will slide in from the bottom.
    • If you're on Chrome's home page, tap the Search or type URL field in the middle of the page.
  3. 3
Enter the URL web link you want to open. You can use your keyboard to type a web address here, or paste a link from your clipboard.
  4. 4
Tap the Go button on your keyboard. This is a blue button in the lower-right corner of your keyboard. It will take you to the web page in your address bar.
    • If you open a page in a different language, a notification will pop up at the bottom, and ask if you want to translate this page to your default language.
  5. 5
Tap the blue TRANSLATE button at the bottom. Chrome will ask if you want to translate this page into your default language in a pop-up notification window at the bottom of your screen.
    • If you want to translate into a different language, tap the underlined language option in the pop-up, and select the language you want to translate into.
  6. 6
Tap the DONE button in the pop-up window. This will close the pop-up, and allow you to view the translated web page.

It should already be translated; if not, press the ... menu on the right and select the "Translate" menu and the bar should reappear.

Warnings

  • Chrome uses Google Translate to make translations of web pages. Remember Google Translate is an automated algorithm service, and there may be mistakes in the translation.
