Using Quick Settings

    Open your Android's keyboard. You can open a new note, text message, or anything that allows typing. You keyboard will pop out from the bottom of your screen.
    • If you don't have any messaging apps, you can open your browser, and tap the address bar at the top to open your keyboard.

    Tap the keyboard icon at the bottom of your screen. This button will open a list of all your saved keyboards, and allow you to switch between different keyboard layouts.
    • If you don't see this button in the lower-right or lower-left corner, you can swipe down the notification bar from the top, and tap Choose input method on your quick settings panel.

    Select the keyboard you want to use. Find the keyboard you want to use on the pop-up list, and tap on its name. This will switch your keyboard to the selected layout.

Using the Settings App

    Scroll down and tap Language & input on the Settings menu. This option will open your language and keyboard settings on a new page.
    • This option may also be named Language and keyboard or just Language on your phone or tablet.

    Tap Current Keyboard under KEYBOARD & INPUT METHODS. This will open a list of all your saved keyboards in a pop-up window, and allow you to select a new default keyboard option.
    • Optionally, you can tap CHOOSE KEYBOARDS here, and add a new keyboard to your saved keyboards list.

    Select your new default keyboard. Find the keyboard layout you want to use on the list, and tap on its name. This will switch your default keyboard to the selected option.
