Fallout 4 offers many new and exciting features for players to tinker with. Now, not only can players decide which faction to side with, they can create their own. Read on to learn how to build your own community in Fallout 4.

Steps

  1. 1
Travel to a location on your map that includes a workstation.
  2. 2
Gain access to the workstation. If the area is occupied by hostiles, clear them out. If it is occupied by non-hostiles, you will need to perform some task to help them first.
  3. 3
Begin building. Clean out the area for materials to use for scrap.
  4. 4
Build some beds. Place them inside of a structure.
  5. 5
    Build a water pump.
  6. 6
Grow some crops. Grow various kinds of vegetables.
  7. 7
Build some defenses. Place guard posts, set traps, and build turrets.
  8. 8
Build a radio transmitter. This will attract settlers to your new settlement.
  9. 9
Trade with and assign positions to settlers. You can give them specific jobs and give them better armor/weaponry.
  10. 10
Wait until you have a fairly large settlement. Once you have 10 or more settlers, build trading stations and shops.

Crops can be found randomly in the Wasteland, but if you need them in a hurry, go to Abernathy Farm. It is just south of Red Rocket Truckstop, and you can freely take crops from there.
  • Question

Coffee cups are a bountiful source of ceramic. They are scattered all across the Commonwealth. Try looking through office buildings for them; they may be more concentrated in those areas.
  • Question
How do I claim a settlement as my home?

You can't. You can be hugely biased and dedicate all the resources to one location, but it isn't the same as Fallout 76 and the C.A.M.P.
