How to Send Gifs on WhatsApp on Android

This wikiHow teaches you how to find and send a GIF file to a contact in a WhatsApp chat, using Android. GIF files will allow you to share animated images with your friends in your chat conversations.

Steps

Open WhatsApp Messenger on your Android. The WhatsApp icon looks like a white telephone in a green speech bubble. You can find it on your App tray.

Tap the chat you want to message. Find your contact on your CHATS list, and tap the chat box to open the conversation.
- If WhatsApp opens up to another conversation, tap the
  button on the top-left to go back to your CHATS list.
- Alternatively, you can tap the green New Message button on the bottom-right, and select a contact to message from your contacts list.

Tap the smiley icon on the left of the message field. You'll find a smiley face icon in the lower-left corner of the conversation. It will open the emoji and smiley library.
- On some versions, you may see a "+" icon here instead of an emoji.

Tap the GIF button at the bottom of the emoji panel. This will open WhatsApp's integrated GIF search and library.
- You can tap any GIF here to preview and send it.

Tap the
icon on the bottom-left. This will allow you to search the GIF library.

Enter a search keyword. Matching GIFs will show up as you type.

Tap a GIF to preview it. When you find a GIF you want to send, tap on the image to open a full-screen preview of it.

Add a message or caption to your GIF (optional). Tap the Add a caption field at the bottom of the preview page, and use your keyboard to type your message.

Tap the Send button on the bottom-right. It looks like a white paper plane icon in a green circle. This will send the GIF to your contact as a chat message.
