This wikiHow teaches you how to sell and ship your own items on Amazon UK. To sell on Amazon.co.uk, you'll need a UK mailing address, an Amazon account, and a valid credit card. If you want to ship items throughout Europe, you'll need to complete some additional verification steps to comply with European law. Once your account is active, you sell your own items across the UK and beyond.
Steps
Part 1
Part 1 of 4:Creating a Seller Account
-
1Review Amazon's selling plans. Amazon offers two different selling plans to suit your needs. Click here to view each plan's details and pricing information. Use the calculator at the bottom of the page to determine which plan will work best for you.
- Basic: Choose this plan if you want to sell fewer than 35 items per month. There's no subscription fee—just a small £0.75 listing fee for each item sold, as well as small service fees. You won't have to pay the fees until the item sells.
- Professional: This plan has a monthly subscription fee of £25, but allows you to sell as many items as you wish without paying individual listing fees. You'll still have to pay service fees, but listing the items will be free.
-
2Scroll down and click Start selling. It's the large yellow button at the bottom of the page. This brings you to an Amazon login screen.
- Amazon will allow you to sell in all EU marketplaces by default. If you only want to sell on Amazon.co.uk, remove the checkmark below the "Start selling" button before you click.
-
3Enter your Amazon login info and click Next. This directs you to the registration process.
-
4Follow the on-screen instructions to register as a seller. You'll have to provide your full name, contact information, valid credit card details, and your bank account number. European law also requires you provide some additional details to sell in other EU countries.[1]
- If you don't have all of the information you need to complete the EU verification, you can return to do it later by logging into https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk, clicking Settings at the top-right corner, and then selecting Account info.
Part 2
Part 2 of 4:Setting Up Your Store
-
1Go to https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/hz/home in your web browser. This is Seller Central, which is where you'll list and manage your items. Before you start selling, you'll be using this tool to set your shipping rates and decide on your store policies.
- If you are not signed in automatically, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in now.
-
2Click the Settings menu. It's at the top-right corner of the screen.
-
3Click Account info in the menu.
-
4Click Your Info & Policies.
-
5Describe your business and brand. The "About Seller" section gives you the chance to describe who you are and what makes your products or services stand out from the rest.
-
6Upload a store logo. Your store logo should be either a JPEG or GIF file that's 120 pixels wide by 30 pixels tall.[2] Make sure your logo doesn't include a website or email address, as that violates Amazon's policies.
-
7Set your shipping rates and policies. If you're selling books, videos/DVDs, or music media, Amazon sets the shipping rate for you. Amazon also suggests shipping rates for other items, but you can update those rates to your liking.
- Amazon requires sellers to offer standard shipping rates throughout the UK.[3]
-
8Describe your policy for returns and refunds. If you plan to allow returns, be sure to describe return instructions. This information will be readily available to your buyers in case they run into issues with your products.
Part 3
Part 3 of 4:Listing an Item for Sale
-
1Go to https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk. If you're not already signed into your account, follow the on-screen instructions to do so now.
- Click here to check out the most up-to-date version of Amazon's fee schedule before listing items for sale.
-
2Click the INVENTORY menu. It's in the row of links at the top of Seller Central.
-
3Click Add a Product.
-
4Search for the product you want to sell. If another seller is selling the same product you're about to list, it'll be really easy to add. It's best to search for the ISBN, UPC, EAN, or any other identifying code that exists on the product. You can also search by other criteria.
-
5Click Sell this product on a matching product. Now you can enter the details of your offer without having to specify a category and other details.[4]
- If there is more than one type or version of this product, click Select Variations to find an exact match.
- If there are no products that match what you're selling, click the INVENTORY menu again, select Add a Product, and then select Create a new product.
-
6Enter your product's details. In your product's description, be sure to use relevant words that will help potential buyers find your item. Upload a photo if one doesn't already exist, and set a fair price.
- If you'd like the product to be packaged and shipped by Amazon, select Amazon from the "Fulfilled by" menu instead of "Merchant." This requires you distribute your product to Amazon's fulfillment centers so they can handle the shipping. For more info on Fulfillment by Amazon, visit the Fulfillment by Amazon website.
- If you're listing a product that already exists on Amazon, fill out your offer details and then click Save.
- If you're creating a new product, search or browse for the category that best fits the product and click Select category. Then, enter your offer details and click Save Changes.
-
7Edit your existing listings. After listing an item, it will be available for sale on Amazon.co.uk after about 15 minutes. If you need to edit your listing in any way, you can do so by clicking the Preferences menu at the top of Seller Central and selecting Manage Inventory.
- If you want to list an item similar to something you've already listed, open the Manage Inventory page and select Copy Listing from the product's drop-down menu.
- If you decide you don't want to sell something that you've already listed, select Delete Product and Listing from the product's drop-down menu.
Part 4
Part 4 of 4:Fulfilling an Order
-
1Go to https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk. If you're not already signed into your account, follow the on-screen instructions to do so now.[5]
- You will receive an email when one of your items is sold. Since email can sometimes be flaky, be sure to check Seller Central often for new orders.
-
2Click the ORDERS menu. It's in the row of links at the top of Seller Central.
-
3Click Manage Orders. A list of your recent orders will appear.
- Orders that have been paid for are marked "Unshipped." You should only fulfill orders marked with this designation.
- If an order is labeled as "Pending," this means the payment verification has not yet been completed. Don't fulfill this order until the status switches to "Unshipped."
-
4Click an order to view its details. This displays all of your options for the order, such as the buyer's shipping preference, address, and contact info.
- If you need to communicate with the buyer for any reason, click Contact Buyer.
-
5Click Print packing slip. This displays the packing slip on the screen inside your computer's print dialog.
-
6Click OK to send the slip to your printer. The packing slip must be placed in the box with the item(s) you're sending.[6]
-
7Package the item(s). It's extremely important to pack your items safely and professionally. For tips on proper packaging, check out these links:

-
8Ship the item. When shipping the item through your local postal service, be sure to get a tracking confirmation number.
- Amazon will send you a shipping credit that should cover the shipping costs.
-
9Confirm the shipment. Once you've sent the item and received a tracking number, you must confirm the shipment. You won't get paid until the shipment is confirmed. To confirm the shipment in Seller Central:
- Select Confirm Shipment from the item's drop-down menu.
- Enter the dispatch date, shipping method, and tracking ID.
- Include any notes in the "Memo" section (optional).
- Click Confirm Shipment.
-
10Check your bank account for your payment. It can take up to 5 days for the payment to appear in the account associated with your store. Listing and/or service fees will be deducted from your payment.
