Checking for an iCloud Backup

    Tap your name. It’s at the top of the menu.

    Tap your iPad under the “Backups” header. If you have an iCloud backup available, its date and size will be listed here.

    • If no backup is listed, it’s not possible to restore your iPad from iCloud.

Restoring from a Backup

    Scroll down and tap General.

    Scroll down and Reset. It’s toward the bottom of the menu.

    Tap Erase All Content and Settings. It’s near the top of the menu.

    Enter your passcode. Type the code you use to unlock your iPad.

    Tap Restore from iCloud Backup. A sign-in screen will appear.

    Sign in to iCloud. Enter your Apple ID username and password to continue.[2]

    Tap Choose backup.

    Tap the backup you want to restore to.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your iPad. Once the restore is complete, your iPad will be restored to the state it was in at the time of the selected backup.
    • Your settings, accounts, apps, personal data, and purchased media will all be in place once the restore is complete. You may have to sign in to your account(s) to start this process.
    • If the iPad cannot restore the version of an app that was backed up, it will download the latest version from the App Store automatically.
