How to Reset Your WeChat Password on iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to generate a new WeChat password from the login screen when you're not able to log into your account, using an iPhone or iPad.

Steps

Open the WeChat app on your iPhone or iPad. The WeChat icon looks like two white speech bubbles in a green box. WeChat will open up to the login screen.

Tap the three dots icon. This button is located in the upper-right corner of your screen. It will open a pop-up menu.

Select Unable to Log in on the menu. You will have to confirm your phone number on a new screen.

Tap No. WeChat will ask if your phone can receive text messages. Select No here to reset your password.

Make sure the box next to Accept Terms of Service is checked. You have to accept WeChat's Terms of Service to reset your password.

Tap Request Retrieval. This is a green button at the bottom of your screen. It will take you to the Password Retrieval screen.

Select I forgot my WeChat ID. This option will let you reset your password by entering the phone number linked to your WeChat account. It will open the password retrieval form on the same page.
- Alternatively, you can select I know my WeChat ID. This option lets you enter your WeChat ID instead of your linked phone number.

Enter your linked phone number in the field next to Mobile. The phone number you enter here must match the number you used to create your account.
- Optionally, you can enter your QQ ID here if you have one. This lets you reset your password without entering your linked mobile number.

Enter another number that can receive text messages in the field next to Mobile available. This field reads Must receive SMS below the Mobile and QQ ID fields.

Complete the captcha. Find the captcha image in the lower-right corner of the form, and enter the letters you see into the CAPTCHA field.

Tap Next. This is a green button at the bottom of the password retrieval form. It will send a text message to the second phone number you provided on the form, and take you to the SMS verification page.

Enter your verification code in the CAPTCHA field. Find your verification code in the automated text message from WeChat, and enter it here.

Tap the green Next button. It will reset your account password. You will see a green checkmark on your screen.

Note down your new password. WeChat will automatically generate a new password for your account. Find it in the New Password field here, and note it down.

Tap the green Close Page button. This will take you back to the login page. You can now log into your account with your new password.
