Replying to a Channel Message

    Open Slack on your Android. The Slack app looks like an "S" in a colored circle icon on your Apps menu.
    • If you're not automatically signed in, tap the blue SIGN IN button in the lower-left corner, and log in to the workspace you want to edit.

    Tap the workspace icon on the top-left. This icon looks like the initials of your workspace's name in the upper-left corner of your screen. It will open your menu panel on the left-hand side.

    Tap a channel under CHANNELS. Find the CHANNELS heading on your navigation menu, and tap a chat channel. This will open the channel conversation.
  4. 4
    Tap a message in the chat conversation. This will open the selected message on a new page.

    Tap the Start a thread button. This will allow you to start a reply thread under the selected chat message, and post your reply.
    • If there's already another reply posted under this message, you won't see the Start a thread button here. In this case, tap the Add a reply field at the bottom of the page.

    Type in your reply. You can use your keyboard to type your message here, or paste text from your clipboard.

Replying to a Direct Message

    Tap your contact's name under DIRECT MESSAGES. Find your contact's name under the DIRECT MESSAGES heading on the menu, and tap it. This will open the direct message thread between you and your contact.
    • If you haven't read your contact's message yet, it will show up under the UNREADS heading on the menu panel.

    Type your message into the message field. Tap the message field at the bottom of your direct message conversation, and enter your message here.
