Steps

    Open the Word app on your iPhone or iPad. The Word app looks like a white document icon and a "W" in a blue box. You can find it on your home screen or in an app folder.

    Tap Open at the bottom. This button looks like a white folder icon on a blue navigation bar at the bottom of your screen. It will open a list of all your available file locations.
    • Alternatively, you can open a recent document from the Recent tab or a document shared with you from the Shared tab at the bottom.

    Tap your document's location under the "Places" heading. You can select your iPhone or iPad here if your document is saved locally or select OneDrive if it's saved to your Microsoft cloud.

    Tap the document you want to edit. This will open the selected Word document in full-screen.

    Tap the A icon at the top. This button looks like an "A" with a pencil icon on a blue toolbar at the top of your document. It will open your editing panel in the bottom half of your screen.
