How to Put a Hyperlink in Microsoft PowerPoint

In a PowerPoint presentation you can hyperlink to images or websites. Just start with Step 1 below to learn how to add these links to your slide-show.

Steps

Insert. Write the text or image you want to have as the link onto the PowerPoint slide.

Highlight it. Select it then right-click on it. Select the "Hyperlink" option on the pop-up menu.

Fill out the fields. "Link to" what URL you want by selecting a website address from the list, or type in another.

Type out the words you would like "displayed" as the link.

Click OK.

Confirm the link works. Hold the CTRL key while clicking the link. The link should turn blue and become underlined.

Run it. The link is now ready to be used during your PowerPoint presentation.

Question

I have a black background that makes the blue font of the hyperlink barely visible. How can I change the default color to something else?

Go into Slide Master in PowerPoint. Select Colors and then Customize Colors. You can then change the default Hyperlink color and Followed Hyperlink color to suit your needs.

If I change the hyperlink's text color, how do I change it back to the default?

The "Clear all formatting" tool should fix it. Just highlight the link and press the "A" with an eraser over it. You could also try using the format paintbrush from normal text. Otherwise you can just copy and paste the link into a browser, then copy it back across to the PowerPoint.
