This wikiHow teaches you how to send an image file as a chat message in a Slack channel or direct message thread, using an iPhone or iPad.

Steps

  1. 1
Open Slack on your iPhone or iPad. The Slack app looks like an "S" in a colored square icon on your home screen.
    • If you're not automatically logged in, tap the Sign in button at the bottom, and sign in to the workspace you want to edit.
  2. 2
Tap the # icon on the top-left. This button will open your menu panel on the left-hand side of your screen.
  3. 3
Tap a channel or direct message on the menu. Find the conversation you want to message on the menu panel, and open it.
  4. 4
Tap the image icon next to the message field. This button looks like a landscape image next to the Send button in the lower-right corner of your screen. It will allow you to upload an image, and send it as a chat message.
  5. 5
Tap Allow Access on the image panel. This will let you select an image from your Camera Roll, and send it to a Slack chat.
    • You will have to confirm your action in a pop-up window.
  6. 6
Tap OK in the confirmation pop-up. Your iPhone or iPad will ask if you want to allow Slack access to your photos. Tap OK here to confirm.
  7. 7
Tap the image you want to send on the image panel. Swipe left on the image panel at the bottom of your screen to browse your pictures, and tap the image you want to send.
    • Alternatively, you can tap the camera icon here to use your camera to take a picture, or the squares icon to view your image gallery in full-screen.
  8. 8
Tap the green checkmark icon. This button is in the upper-right corner of the Upload Image page. It will upload the selected image, and send it to this channel as a chat message.
    • Optionally, you can add a title to your image here before sending it. To do this, tap the "Title" field below the image, and enter your title.
