The following steps provide some things you may want to consider if you are going to hold a children's party.
Steps
-
1Budget. Decide how much you can spend on the party.
-
2Choose a date. Make sure that any special guests will be free to attend.
-
3Schedule. Book the venue if required, plan when you'll decorate the venue if you are doing so. Book any catering. Ensure you will have transport to the venue if required (don't book the party at the local play park the same day your car is getting serviced!). If you're having celebration cake, plan time to bake and decorate it or order a cake.
-
4Pick a theme. Will it be a pool party, a camp-out, a tea party or a movie night party?
-
5Plan who will be invited. Consider how many people your child wants to invite.
-
6Plan what kind of food will be served. Remember to consider the dietary requirements of all your guests.
-
7Plan to make the invitations and consider how you'll get them to the guests. Your child could hand them out at school or they could be posted. Be aware that some people may take offence or be upset by not being invited. You may want to consider inviting people discreetly.
-
8Invite only as many kids as you can handle or, if you can, get some help from family and friends.
-
9
-
10Decide if you wish to decorate the party venue. Make sure that your pre party schedule gives you time to put up any decorations.

QuestionWhat are some games to play at a children's day party?
Community AnswerHide and seek, capture the flag and tag are great activities for 4 to 7 year olds. A photo booth is a great option for 8 year olds and older.. -
QuestionWhat if we only have four children at our party?
Community AnswerIt shouldn't affect how fun the party is if there aren't that many kids. If they all get along, it should still turn out fine. -
QuestionWhat are some food and activity ideas for my two, four and seven year-old sisters?
Community AnswerMaybe you could have mainly healthy foods, but an occasional junk food. You could have them play safe and fun games, like hide-and-seek, pin the tail on the donkey, crafts et cetera. -
QuestionI want to make a surprise party for my 6 year old sister, but she knows about it. should I make it in another date or just make it a normal party? I really want to make her a surprise party!
Emma RavenCommunity AnswerIf you want it to be a surprise, then make it on a different date. She can't know if it's a surprise. If you can, try to plan it when she's out of the house. Plan a play date with her friends, or do something to get her out of the house, so you can plan. You also could do it while she's in the house, but you have to be careful. Also, you should hide your plans when you're done. And then when you're setting it up, make sure to get her out. Get her together with her friends, and make sure her friends know. Just tell your sister they'll be coming back to your house with you (sister). Make sure the friends don't ruin the surprise though, otherwise all your hard work is gone. -
QuestionI am a 7th grader and I am planning my sister's birthday and I think that the games I chose are too competitive. I picked an obstacle course, a race, a scavenger hunt, and a beanbag toss. Thoughts?
Community AnswerThe games you chose sound competitive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If your sister's friends are overly competitive and/or bad losers, then choose some more low-key games or alter the games you already have. You could do the scavenger hunt, but have everyone be on the same team, working together. You could have the obstacle course be just for fun, and not win. -
QuestionHow do I come up with ideas for a birthday party?
Frenchtoast2174Community AnswerIf it is your party, ask yourself what you like to do, such as skating or movies. Invite some or all of your friends and go to a skating rink together, eat some cake or whatever you chose and have fun! -
QuestionWhat can I do if I want to go out somewhere but it is too expensive to pay for 5 people?
Community AnswerYou have three options here. You can cut back on the guest list, choose another venue, or ask your guests to contribute. Depending on where you want to go, you can find a cheaper alternative. You could inquire about a group/party discount. You could request the guest contribute an amount towards the party. Pay ahead of time if possible, so the guests don’t have to worry about carrying money or splitting a bill. Keep in mind it isn’t very polite to request a gift if the guests are paying for the party, so specify on the invitation or message that a gift isn’t expected. -
QuestionWhat would be some fun activities for 12 year old girls' sleepovers and parties?
Community AnswerThere are tons of fun options for tween girl parties and sleepovers. Keep the activities more open ended, as the most fun isn’t planned. Some fun activities baking, art, cupcake decorating, facials, manicures, karaoke, movies, dancing, photo-shoots, scavenger hunts, video games, makeovers, and sports. Consider trying a new activity, such as soap making from glycerin. A new challenge is very engaging, and sure to be different from other parties. Keep the food stocked, and a lot of fun activities will create themselves.
