How to Pin on Slack on iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to pin messages and files to a Slack channel using the Slack app for iPhone and iPad. Pinning messages on Slack is a good way to keep important information and files at the top so everyone can see them.

Steps

Open Slack. It's the app that has a multi-colored checker pattern with a black "S" in the center.
- Download Slack from the App Store and log in with your email address and password if you haven't already done so.

Tap the hashtag icon. It's the multi-colored hashtag (#) in the top-left corner. This opens the main side-menu for your current workspace.
- You can also swipe-right from the far-left edge of the screen to open the workspace menu.

Tap a channel or conversation. Tap the channel you want to pin something in, or select a conversation from your direct messages.
- You can only pin a message or file that has already been posted in the chat. If you have a message or file you want to pin, you'll need to post it first.

Tap the message you want to pin. This will display that post by itself with some additional options.
- To pin a file such as a picture or video, long-press the file in the chat window instead.

Tap ⋯. It's the icon with three dots under the message on the right-hand side. This opens a pop-up menu from the bottom of the screen.
- Skip this step if you are pinning a file.

Tap Pin Message. It's in the middle of the pop-up menu.
- Tap Pin File if you are pinning a file, instead.
