This wikiHow will teach you how to move a resident's or your own house in Animal Crossing: New Horizons by talking to Tom Nook. Moving another home costs 50,000 Bells and you'll need to have this amount on you to unlock the conversation chain. To move your own house is a similar process but costs 30,000 Bells instead.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:Moving a Resident's House
-
1Go to the Resident Services building. If it's still a tent, you most likely haven't progressed enough in the game to unlock the ability to move residents.
-
2Talk to Tom Nook and select Let's talk infrastructure. It's usually the choice near the bottom of the menu. If he doesn't have this conversation available, you don't have either the required money (50,000 Bells) or the game progressed enough (if the Resident Services building is still a tent, you haven't progressed enough).
-
3Select I want layout changes. If this is your first time talking to Tom Nook about moving a structure, he will explain a few things and you'll need to select "Let's talk relocation" to continue.
-
4Select An island home. It's usually the first option in the menu and will bring up a list of residents you can move.
-
5Navigate to a resident and press A. This will confirm who you want to move and will return you to a conversation screen with Tom Nook.
-
6Select Yes, let's do it!. Tom will remind you that this action will cost you 50,000 Bells, but you can pick "Let me think on it" to cancel the action.
- After you select "Yes," Tom Nook will go get the resident you're moving and bring them back so all three of you can talk. He will ask the resident if they want to move (they should agree), then present you with a "Moving Kit" to use to select where you want the resident's house to move to.
-
7Go to the location where you want to move the resident's house. It'll need to be a flat piece of land that measures 5 squares wide by 4 squares deep.[1]
-
8Open your inventory and select the moving kit, then Build Here. A preview of the house will appear in the space you've chosen.
-
9Select This is the spot!. If you'd rather see a preview of the constructed house, select "Let me imagine it... " instead.
- Choose "I need to rethink it" if you want to cancel the action.
- Once the new location is picked, construction will begin. The resident's house will move the next day and their current house will be removed.[2]

-

-
4Select I'm ready to move!. Tom will remind you that this action will cost you 30,000 Bells, but you can pick "I changed my mind" to cancel the action.
- Tom will add your house to your pockets. However, if your pockets are full, you can't continue.
