Ah, the Hollywood Hills, home of the iconic “Hollywood” sign and many of the world’s most famous celebrities. If you’re looking to see and potentially meet some celebs, this is the place to do it! Your best bet is to check out some of the places that attract them. We’ve put together a list of a few places that are known celebrity magnets. You might just get lucky and run into a few of them, so keep your eyes peeled while you’re there!

Method 1
Method 1 of 13:
Attend the Academy Awards.

Stake out a spot on the red carpet to catch the celebrities. Every year, the Academy Awards, a.k.a. the Oscars, is held at either the end of February or early March at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. If you get there early enough, you can claim a spot along the red carpet. When the celebrities walk by and the photographers are snapping photos, you can call out to them and may be able to meet some of them![1]
    • Keep in mind that some people arrive hours or even days ahead of the event to claim a good spot along the red carpet.
    • If any celebrities are mingling with the crowd along the red carpet, you may even be able to take a photo with them!

This iconic Hollywood hotel is a celebrity magnet. Chateau Marmont is a castle-like hotel in West Hollywood where many celebrities are known to come and go. Book a table at one of the hotel’s cafes or restaurants and keep an eye out for any celebrities that walk in. You may be able to say hello to someone you recognize![2]
    • If you do see a celebrity enjoying a coffee or a meal, be respectful. If they don’t seem open to meeting fans, give them their space.
    • Chateau Marmont also maintains a “no photography” rule, so avoid whipping out your phone to snap photos of any celebs you see there.[3]

Method 3
Method 3 of 13:
Walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Keep an eye out for free public ceremonies honoring a celebrity. If you’re visiting Hollywood, seeing the Walk of Fame is almost a rite of passage. The sidewalk is covered with the names of some of the world’s biggest stars. If a new celebrity is being added to the walk, you can check out the unveiling ceremony and you might be able to meet them. You just may also see a celeb or two walking along the sidewalk as well![4]
    • If you want to find a specific celebrity’s star, use the online Star Search tool to find out where it is along the walk.

Have a great meal and check out the celebrities that dine there. Musso & Frank Grill is a classic, old-school Italian joint that’s hosted a ton of celebrities over the years. Take a seat in one of the restuaruant’s big red booths and have a drink or a meal (or both) while you check out the celebs who may also be dining there. You might be able to go up to one and say hello if they aren’t too busy.[9]
    • Try not to disturb people while they’re enjoying a meal. But if they look receptive, you might be able to say hi and potentially ask for a photo with them.

Method 9 of 13:

Visit the iconic bar, restaurant, pool, and clubs. The Hollywood Roosevelt has long been a hangout of the rich and famous. Check out the Library Bar next to the lobby for a drink or relax at the Tropicana Pool & Cafe. You could also party it up at The Spare Room or Teddy’s, two nightclubs in the hotel. Chances are, you’ll see a celebrity or two while you’re there, and you just may be able to approach and meet them![12]
    • Even if you don’t see any celebrities, you’ll still have a great time at this Hollywood fixture.

Method 12
Method 12 of 13:
Check out any Hollywood movie premiers.

    1
You might get lucky and be able to snag a spot on the red carpet. Go online and search for movie premiers in Hollywood. Though they don’t happen all of the time, if you’re in town while a premier is being held at one of the theatres in Hollywood, such as at the TCL Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre, or Hollywood Pantages Theatre, if you get there early enough, you may be able to hang out along the red carpet. When the celebrities attending the premier walk by, if they’re up for mingling with folks in the crowd, you might get to meet them and maybe even take a picture.[14]

Warnings

  • Be respectful and polite when you approach a celebrity. They may not be interested in meeting anyone and it’s important to respect their wishes.
