Ah, the Hollywood Hills, home of the iconic “Hollywood” sign and many of the world’s most famous celebrities. If you’re looking to see and potentially meet some celebs, this is the place to do it! Your best bet is to check out some of the places that attract them. We’ve put together a list of a few places that are known celebrity magnets. You might just get lucky and run into a few of them, so keep your eyes peeled while you’re there!
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 13:Attend the Academy Awards.
-
1Stake out a spot on the red carpet to catch the celebrities. Every year, the Academy Awards, a.k.a. the Oscars, is held at either the end of February or early March at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. If you get there early enough, you can claim a spot along the red carpet. When the celebrities walk by and the photographers are snapping photos, you can call out to them and may be able to meet some of them![1]
- Keep in mind that some people arrive hours or even days ahead of the event to claim a good spot along the red carpet.
- If any celebrities are mingling with the crowd along the red carpet, you may even be able to take a photo with them!

Method 2
Method 2 of 13:Check out Chateau Marmont.
-
1This iconic Hollywood hotel is a celebrity magnet. Chateau Marmont is a castle-like hotel in West Hollywood where many celebrities are known to come and go. Book a table at one of the hotel’s cafes or restaurants and keep an eye out for any celebrities that walk in. You may be able to say hello to someone you recognize![2]
- If you do see a celebrity enjoying a coffee or a meal, be respectful. If they don’t seem open to meeting fans, give them their space.
- Chateau Marmont also maintains a “no photography” rule, so avoid whipping out your phone to snap photos of any celebs you see there.[3]
Method 3
Method 3 of 13:Walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
-
1Keep an eye out for free public ceremonies honoring a celebrity. If you’re visiting Hollywood, seeing the Walk of Fame is almost a rite of passage. The sidewalk is covered with the names of some of the world’s biggest stars. If a new celebrity is being added to the walk, you can check out the unveiling ceremony and you might be able to meet them. You just may also see a celeb or two walking along the sidewalk as well![4]
- If you want to find a specific celebrity’s star, use the online Star Search tool to find out where it is along the walk.

Method 4
Method 4 of 13:Go to the TCL Chinese Theatre.
-
1See celebrity handprints and look for them walking by. This historic Hollywood cinema has been hosting films since 1927, and features a courtyard where more than 200 celebs have left their hand and footprints in cement. The theatre still shows films, so you can watch a movie while you’re there. If you’re lucky, you might see a new celebrity’s prints being added to the courtyard, or you might see some walking by or checking out a movie in the the theatre.[5]
Method 5
Method 5 of 13:Visit Carbon Beach.
-
1Get some sunshine and keep an eye out for famous celebrities. Carbon Beach, also known as “Billionaire’s Beach” is a stretch of beach in Malibu lined with the mansions of celebrities. Take a walk along the beach and you just might run into a celebrity that you can say hello to. If they seem open to it, you could even ask for a selfie![6]Advertisement
Method 6
Method 6 of 13:Hike Runyon Canyon.
-
1Spot a celebrity and get some exercise out on the trails. Celebrities aren’t always sipping cocktails or having a fancy meal at one of Hollywood’s hottest restaurants. You may be able to catch them out in the “wild” hiking the trails of Runyon Canyon. Put on some hiking boots and hit the trails to potentially run into a celebrity you can meet out there.[7]
- You’ll also get some of the best views of Hollywood while you’re at it.
Method 7
Method 7 of 13:Shop at Brentwood Farmers Market.
-
1Find farm-fresh produce and spot a celebrity at the same time. On Sunday mornings, the farmers market in Brentwood is a great place to grab some breakfast, pick up some fresh fruits and veggies, and check out the celebrities shopping there. You can say hi and maybe ask for a photo, but don’t interrupt their grocery shopping for too long.[8]
- There are also a bunch of great cafes and brunch spots in the area where you can enjoy a delicious meal and potentially see some celebs.

Method 8
Method 8 of 13:Eat at Musso & Frank Grill.
-
1Have a great meal and check out the celebrities that dine there. Musso & Frank Grill is a classic, old-school Italian joint that’s hosted a ton of celebrities over the years. Take a seat in one of the restuaruant’s big red booths and have a drink or a meal (or both) while you check out the celebs who may also be dining there. You might be able to go up to one and say hello if they aren’t too busy.[9]
- Try not to disturb people while they’re enjoying a meal. But if they look receptive, you might be able to say hi and potentially ask for a photo with them.
Method 9
Method 9 of 13:Grab a coffee at Alfred Coffee & Tea.
-
1This local chain is a go-to spot for many celebrities. Hollywood celebs like the Kardashians, Selena Gomez, and other stars are known to frequent Alfred Coffee & Tea to get their caffeine fix. Stop in on one, enjoy a tasty beverage, and check out any famous people you see ordering a drink or snack. If they don’t look to busy, you can try meeting them.[10]
- Urth Caffe is another popular celebrity hangout—they have locations in Pasadena, downtown LA, and Laguna Beach.[11]

Method 10 of 13:Hangout at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
-
1Visit the iconic bar, restaurant, pool, and clubs. The Hollywood Roosevelt has long been a hangout of the rich and famous. Check out the Library Bar next to the lobby for a drink or relax at the Tropicana Pool & Cafe. You could also party it up at The Spare Room or Teddy’s, two nightclubs in the hotel. Chances are, you’ll see a celebrity or two while you’re there, and you just may be able to approach and meet them![12]
- Even if you don’t see any celebrities, you’ll still have a great time at this Hollywood fixture.
Method 11
Method 11 of 13:Go to Beauty & Essex.
-
1This trendy spot is often frequented by celebrities. Located inside of the Dream Hotel in Hollywood, Beauty & Essex is a restaurant, bar, and lounge. Many A-list celebrities are often hanging out there, so you may get to see some of them if you go. Enjoy a delicious meal or grab a drink and keep an eye out for celebrities like Jay-Z, Selena Gomez, and Paris Hilton.[13]Advertisement
Method 12
Method 12 of 13:Check out any Hollywood movie premiers.
-
1You might get lucky and be able to snag a spot on the red carpet. Go online and search for movie premiers in Hollywood. Though they don’t happen all of the time, if you’re in town while a premier is being held at one of the theatres in Hollywood, such as at the TCL Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre, or Hollywood Pantages Theatre, if you get there early enough, you may be able to hang out along the red carpet. When the celebrities attending the premier walk by, if they’re up for mingling with folks in the crowd, you might get to meet them and maybe even take a picture.[14]
Method 13
Method 13 of 13:Visit Madame Tussauds Hollywood.
-
1See iconic wax figures of your favorite celebrities. While they may not technically be alive, the wax figures at Madame Tussauds might actually fool you with how life-like they look. You can see a ton of your favorite celebrities, including those from the past like Marilyn Monroe! It’s a fun experience that is almost a requirement if you’re visiting Hollywood to spot celebrities.[15]Advertisement
