How to Make a Patreon Account

Are you a blogger, YouTuber, podcasters, photographer, musician, or internet content creator? Do you want to earn a little extra money doing what you love? Perhaps there's a content creator that you love and want to support? Patreon is a content hosting platform that allows internet content creators to create a multi-tiered subscription service that allows their followers can subscribe and support their favorite content creators and receive bonus content for their support. This wikiHow teaches you how to make both a Patreon account for patrons and a Patreon creator page for content creators.

Making a Patreon Account for Patrons

Download and install the Patreon app. You can sign up for a new account using your smartphone or tablet using the Patreon app. You can also use the app to subscribe and access content from your favorite creators. The Patreon app is available for both Android smartphones and tablets as well as iPhone and iPad. Use the following steps to download and install the Patreon app.
- Open the App Store on iPhone or iPad, or the Google Play Store on Android phones and tablets.
- Tap the Search tab (iPhone and iPad only).
- Enter "Patreon" in the search bar.
- Tap Patreon in the search results.
- Tap GET or Install next to the Patreon app icon or banner.

Open the Patreon app. The Patreon app has an orange icon with a black bar and white dot forming the shape of a "p" Tap the Patreon icon on your Home screen or Apps menu to open Patreon.

Tap New to Patreon? Sign Up. It's the white button at the bottom of the screen. This opens a form you can fill out to create a Patreon account.
- Alternatively, you can tap Continue with Facebook to create a new account with your Facebook account, or tap Continue with Google to create a new account with your Google account.

Enter your name. Enter your name or desired username on the line at the top.

Enter your email address. Use the second line to enter a valid email address.

Enter a password. Use the third line to enter the password you want to use to log in to your Patreon account. Make sure you enter a password you can remember or use a password manager to create and store a secure password for your Patreon account.

Confirm your password. To confirm your password, enter the exact same password again on the fourth line. Passwords are case-sensitive. So make sure you enter the exact uppercase and lowercase letters.

Tap Sign Up. This creates your Patreon account. Use the search function in the upper-right corner to search for Patreons.

Creating a Patreon Creator Page

Go to https://www.patreon.com/ in a web browser. You can use any web browser on PC or Mac. You can also use your web browser on your mobile phone or tablet.
- Currently, you can't set up a creator page using the Patreon app.

Click Create on Patreon or click Log In. If you do not have a Patreon account, click Create on Patreon to create a new Patreon account. If you already have a Patreon account, click Log In to log in to your existing Patreon account.

Create or log in to your Patreon account. Use one of the following steps to create a new Patreon account:
- Create a new account: To create a new Patreon account, enter your name, email address, password two times, and click Sign Up to create a new Patreon account.
- Log In: To log in to your Patreon account, enter the email address and password associated with your Patreon account and click Log In.

Click Get Started below "Become a Creator." It's the first box on the right if you are using a desktop web browser. If you are using a mobile phone, it's the first box at the top of the page.

Check a category for what kind of content you produce and click Continue. You can pick as many as two categories. Your options are "Podcasts," "Videos," "Illustration & Animation," "Writing & Journalism," "Music," "Games & Software," "Communities," "Local business (restaurant, yoga studio, venue, etc)," "Other." Click Continue when you are ready.

Indicate if your content contains adult material and click Continue. Adult content includes real or illustrated nudity or material that may be inappropriate for children under 18. If your content contains adult material, click the radio option next to "Yes, my content contains real or illustrated nudity." If your content does not contain any adult material, click the radio option next to "No, my work does not contain real or illustrated nudity." Click Continue when you are finished.

Select your currency and click Continue. Currently, Patreon supports US Dollars, Euro, British Pounds, Canadian Dollars, and Australian Dollars. Click the radio option next to your currency and click Continue.

Select if you want to offer Patreon exclusive merchandise. If you want, you can offer your Patreon subscribers exclusive merchandise that they can only get from Patreon. If you want to offer your Patreon subscribers exclusive merchandise, click the radio option next to "Yes, I want Merch for Membership (recommended)." If you do not want to offer exclusive merchandise for your Patreon subscribers, click the radio option next to "No, I do not want Merch for Membership." Click Continue when you are finished.

Connect to at least 1 social media profile. This helps verify your identity as a creator. Click Connect next to the social media profile you want to connect to. Then log in to that account or click Continue as [your name]. Click Continue when you are ready.

Select a social media page and whether you want to display your Patreon on that page. If there are multiple pages connected to your social media account (i.e. Facebook business or fan pages), select the page you want to associate your Patreon account to. You can then click the toggle switch below the social media profile to toggle the ability to display your Patreon on your social media page on or off. It is on by default.

Click Continue. When you are finished connecting your Patreon to your social media profiles, click Continue at the bottom of the page to move on to the next step. Your Patreon creator page is now ready. You can start customizing your creator page. This includes writing a description, uploading a profile picture, selecting tiers, adding merchandise, and more.^{[1]
