Getting the white balance correct is very important for the accuracy of the color of your shots. The ExpoDisc is a great tool, but it can be a bit pricey. You can make your own 'ExpoDisc' with an old filter and a coffee filter.
Steps
-
1Get the supplies from Things You'll Need.
-
2Take your filter apart if you can. How to take it apart will depend on the type of lens you have. It may be too difficult to do without destroying it, which you don't want to do.
- You can still create the tool, even if you don't have the ability to take it apart.

3Cut a circle out of the coffee filter that fits the size filter that you have.
-
4If you have managed to take the filter apart, put the cutout circle on top of the glass, and reassemble the filter.
- If you haven't, cut the circle so that it fits inside the filter casing tightly.
