Sometimes, you just want to explode! Family, friends, school; all be just too much at some times. This article will tell you how to make a calm-down spot for yourself. Enjoy!
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:Preparing The Corner
Method 1
-
1Clean out a corner of your room. Make sure it is well-lit, warm enough, and quiet. Clean out any junk in your corner, rid it of distractions, too. If you're a daydreamer, you might want your corner near a window. Don't make it near a door.
-
2Give yourself some seating. Choose a padded chair to sit in, or if you can fit it, choose a recliner chair. It is necessary that your seating be comfortable. If your chair is smaller and less bulky, face it towards the wall, but if your chair is bigger and bulkier, you obviously can't do this. If you can, try to place an ottoman in your corner.Advertisement
-
3Place your favorite things in your corner. Try electronics, electronic chargers, books, photo albums, joint pain cream if you have pain, good-smelling cream, candy/yummy food, a musical instrument, etc. Get it personalized. Hang posters and make it smell good.
-
4Add blankets and pillows. Give your corner the final touches. This is the time when you add special items, e.g. inhaler, medications. Whatever else you want, add now.Advertisement
Method 2
Method 2 of 2:Use your Corner
Method 2
-
1Inform your family. Say, "Mom, Dad, Suzie, just so you know, this is my corner. If I storm off of an argument, know I'm probably going to come here. Please wait 15 minutes before coming to talk to me. Thanks."
-
2Show your parents everything that is in your corner. They want to know what you're doing in there, so tell them in advance! Never add things to your corner without permission from them.
-
3That's all! Now you have your own space to calm down and let off steam.Advertisement
Warnings
- NEVER light candle or use matches in your corner. Thanks!
- NEVER put flammable objects near heating vents. Thanks!
