To blend in with Taiwanese society, a citizen or a traveler should have tried the signature dessert, hot grass jelly, at least once in a lifetime. Apart from pearls and honey beans, taro balls are also a popular ingredient added to hot grass jelly. But, do you know how to make taro balls? This wikiHow will demonstrate the recipe for taro balls.
Ingredients

- Sugar (50g)
- Sweet potato flour (100g)

- Remove the skin from them with either a peeler or a knife.
- Slice them into pieces.
- Steam them until they become soft and tender.
-
2Use a stirring stick or another device to crush and grind the soft taro and sweet potato into a pudding-like texture.
- If a stirring stick is unavailable, you can put the soft taro and sweet potato in a zip bag and mash them with any gadget.

3Mix the sugar into the taro pudding.
-
4Pour the sweet potato flour and tapioca starch into the taro pudding and knead them into a dough. If the dough is too dry, then add some water to it; in contrast, if the dough is too humid and sticky, then add a little bit of potato starch to it.
-
5Divide the dough into several pieces. Knead them into long strips respectively, dividing them into equal pieces. Then, roll them into small balls.
- In order to prevent the small balls from sticking to each other, remember to sprinkle some cornstarch into the container first.
-
6Cook the taro balls in boiling water for a few minutes and wait until they float to the surface. Pick them up, serve the taro ball with hot grass jelly, and enjoy!Advertisement
