Dutch coffee is an alcohol-based coffee ideal for after-dinner or as a pick-me-up. It's based on Advocaat liqueur and strong coffee.
Ingredients
Serves 4:
- 150ml/ 1/4 pint cream suitable for whipping
- 160ml/ 1/3 pint Advocaat liqueur
- 800ml/ 1 pint 8 fl oz strong black coffee, hot
- Sugar to taste
- Instant coffee powder (for dusting)
- Cocoa powder (for dusting)
Steps

1Whip the cream until stiff. If the hot coffee isn't already made, do so now.

2Pour the Advocaat evenly into four warmed glasses.

3Sweeten the hot coffee. Add sugar to taste.

4Pour the sweetened hot coffee into the glasses. Again, divide into even amounts.

5Top each glass with whipped cream. Aim to make a small peak.

6Dust the top of the drink and whipped chocolate. Dust with even amounts of instant coffee powder and cocoa powder.

7Serve immediately. Provide long-handled spoons for stirring and lifting out the whipped cream.
