Method 1
Method 1 of 4:
Malted Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

  1. 1
Pour the milk into the mug.
  2. 2
Heat in the microwave (about 15-30 seconds, depending on your microwave).
  3. 3
Stir in your desired amount of Ovaltine with the spoon.
  4. 4
Add 2-6 pinches of cinnamon according to how much of a "bite" you would like.
  5. 5
Keep stirring until everything is mixed in.
  6. 6
Top with whipped cream and/or marshmallows.
  7. 7
    Enjoy!

Method 2
Method 2 of 4:
Mexican Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

  1. 1
Pour the milk into a heavy based saucepan. Add the cinnamon stick. Slowly bring to the boil.
  2. 2
Add the chocolate. Be liberal with the quantity.
  3. 3
Use a whisk to beat the milk and chocolate together. Whisk until the chocolate is totally combined through the milk.
  4. 4
Add sugar to sweeten. This is optional, only if you like it.
  5. 5
Add vanilla to taste. Again, this is only if you like the flavor. It does add a delicious touch.
  6. 6
Fish out the cinnamon stick. Pour the hot chocolate into a mug.
  7. 7
Serve. Top with whipped cream and/or marshmallows if you like. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon for a finishing touch.
    • Serve with cookies or scones.

Method 3
Method 3 of 4:
Cinnamon Hot Chocolate Mix

This makes about 20 cups for use over time.

  1. 1
Place all of the ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  2. 2
Whisk together to combine. Be gentle.
  3. 3
Puree the mixture. Add batches of the mixture at a time to the food processor. Pulse until the entire mix is finely ground.
  4. 4
Transfer to ground chocolate mix to an airtight container. Store in a cool, dry and dark place.
    • The mix will keep for up to 3 months.
  5. 5
Make hot cinnamon chocolate from the mix. Simply use 1/3 cup of the mix added to 1 cup of hot milk or water in a mug. Add whipped cream for garnish, if desired.

Method 4
Method 4 of 4:
Cinnamon Caramel Hot Chocolate

  1. 1
Add the cocoa powder, sugar and salt to a heavy based saucepan.
  2. 2
Pour in the hot water. Stir to combine all the ingredients.
  3. 3
Bring to the boil. Stir constantly.
  4. 4
Turn down the heat. Simmer for another 2 minutes.
  5. 5
Add the milk in small amounts. Stir constantly and keep heating without boiling.
  6. 6
Pour in the caramel sauce. Stir constantly. Add the cinnamon too.
  7. 7
Remove from the heat. Pour into 4 mugs.
  8. 8
Serve. Add whipped cream and/or marshmallows for garnish, if desired.

Community Q&A

  • Question
Why is the hot chocolate in the first method white?

It is likely white due to the addition of the cream. You could balance this by adding more hot chocolate powder perhaps.
