Caramelized bananas are a delicious treat, and quite easy to make. When you are served caramelized bananas in fancy restaurants, you probably think, "wow!" But now you can make them just as tasty. All you need is a couple of bananas, a handful of sugar, some butter, and an appetite!
Ingredients
- 1 bunch of ripe bananas
- 16 ounces brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 8 ounces whipped cream, ice cream, or fresh fruits (optional)
Steps
-
1Cut the bananas down the long side. Then cut them in half, splitting the bananas into quarters. Place the banana quarters aside.
-
2Melt half of the butter and place aside.
-
3Take the other half of the butter and add it to a skillet. Melt on medium-high heat.
-
4Coat the bananas in melted butter. While the butter is melting and the skillet is heating up, take the butter set aside earlier and use the brush to thoroughly coat the bananas in butter.
- You could also dip the bananas into the butter and let it sit, but this will make the bananas extremely buttery.
-
5Put the butter-covered bananas into the skillet. Sprinkle the brown sugar to cover all of the bananas.
-
6Do not wait for the bananas to cook on the side without brown sugar. Flip immediately and then coat that side with sugar as well. Let them sit for about one minute.
-
7Flip them over again. Pour the rest of the sugar in. Let most of it sit in the pan now, in order for the brown sugar to melt and create a rich caramel.
-
8Serve. When the bananas are golden and slightly brown down the middle, remove from pan. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream, fresh fruits, or serve plain if you prefer it that way.
-
9Finished.
