3Fold the wax paper or parchment in half and trace your template pattern to the back side, using the fold as the body of the butterfly.
-
4Cut an empty towel roll down one side
-
5Fold a piece of thin cardboard or card stock in half so it opens up to 90 or more degrees and place it inside the split towel roll so the folded cardboard or card stock sits within the split towel roll.
-
6Melt the chocolate or melting candy wafers in a bowl.
-
7Fill your piping bag with the chocolate or melted candy wafers.
- If you do not have a piping bag, cut a tiny hole in the corner of a plastic bag.
-
8Pipe the melted chocolate or candy on the wax paper or parchment using your template as a guide.
-
9Pipe a thicker line of chocolate or candy down the inside fold to connect the two wings and form the body and antennae of the butterfly.
-
10Allow the butterflies sit for a few minutes until the melted material starts to set up but is not yet hard.
-
11Lay the butterfly on the cardboard or card stock so that the body of the butterfly follows the line of the fold.
-
12Place everything in the refrigerator or freezer and allow this to cool for an hour or until hard.
-
13Carefully remove the chocolate or candy from the wax paper or parchment paper and place your butterfly on your cake.Advertisement
