This wikiHow teaches you how to invite someone to join a Discord chat channel when you’re using a computer.

Steps

  1. 1
Open Discord. If you have the desktop app, you’ll find it in the Windows menu (Windows) or the Applications folder (Mac). Otherwise, you can use the web version at https://www.discord.com.
  2. 2
Click the server that hosts the channel. Servers are in the left panel.

  3. 3
Right-click the channel. A pop-up menu will appear.
    • If you don’t have a right mouse button, hold down the Ctrl key as you click with the left.
  4. 4
Click Instant Invite. A window that contains an invitation link will appear.
  5. 5
Click the gear icon. It’s at the bottom-right corner of the invitation link.
  6. 6
Select option for the invitation link. These options determine how the link will behave:
    • Expire after: The option you select determines how long the link will be active. People will need to click the link before it expires if they want to join the channel.
    • Max number of uses: This is helpful if you only want to invite a specific amount of people to the channel. Otherwise, choose No limit.
    • Grant temporary membership: Check this box if you only want to allow this person to join the channel once. If the person signs out of Discord, they will be unable to get back into the channel unless someone invites them again.
  7. 7
Click Generate a New Link. A new link will appear.
  8. 8
Click Copy. The link is now saved to your clipboard.
  9. 9
Share the link. There are many ways to share the link with friends, including via email, direct message, or adding it to a website. Once your friend clicks the link, they’ll be able to join the channel.
    • To paste the URL, click the box where you’d normally type, then press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (macOS).
